Our name is derived from our early days as a home-based enterprise. Before he was MD of Kapula, Andre Appelgryn would get home to his wife, Ilse, in the evenings and ask her about her day. The regularity of his question - “Did you make a COUPLE OF candles today?" - inspired the name.

As a community of artisans, we are very proud of our work. Over years of experimentation, we’ve realised that only the best will do. Kapula therefore only uses fully refined paraffin wax, pure cotton wicks and non-toxic pigment colouring.
